How do I increase the security of mail?

A common problem for people who live in densely populated areas where their mailboxes are placed on external wall is that of mail theft. When choosing a letterbox to be placed on an external wall there are a few simple features to look out for that could help reduce the frequency of mail theft. Firstly some boxes are supplied with an anti-theft feature just inside the flap, which makes the removal of post from the slot more difficult. Other features to look out for is drop/depth of letterbox. The further the post has to drop to reach the bottom of the box the harder it is to ‘fish’ it back out again.
